Dakotah Jennifer is an upcoming nonfiction writer with a focus on powerful and relevant topics such as race, gender, divorced parents, and social issues. As a black female writer who has traditionally been in predominantly white spaces, Dakotah aims to make a difference and speak her truth. 

 

Dakotah Jennifer is a twenty-three-year-old black writer getting her MFA at Columbia University. She started writing poetry at eight and has loved it ever since. Jennifer has been published in The Texas Review Laurel Moon, Across the Margin, HerStry, Popsugar, The Pinch Journal, Voyage YA, Protean Mag, Apartment Poetry, Paintbucket.page, the Grief Diaries, and Oral Rinse Zine. She has attended the Juniper Writing Workshop at Amherst (2021) and Bread Loaf Writers Conference (2021), and Writing Workshops Paris (2022). She won Washington University's Harriet Schwenk Kluver award for the 2018-2019 year, The Dramatics of St. Louis Prize for the 2020- 2021 year, and was a finalist for the 2021 Essay Press chapbook contest. She has also published two chapbooks, Fog (Bloof Books) and Safe Passage (Radical Paper Press).
